Maruti Suzuki introduced the Versa in October 2001. It was the second MPV launched by Maruti Suzuki since the Maruti Omni. The Versa MPV was unable to attract customers towards itself. Eventually, the car maker decided to phase it out in 2009. Maruti Suzuki replaced the Versa with the Eeco which was rolled out at the 2010 Auto Expo. The Maruti Suzuki Eeco comes loaded with plenty of features to give tough competition to the other cars in its segment. The Eeco is specifically designed for Indian families and Indian roads. The Eeco is a five-door, C segment vehicle which is a perfect blend of style and substance. With an option for 5 and 7 seats, the Eeco comes in four variants. Moreover, these four variants come is an exciting selection of six colours, namely, Superior White, Bright Red, Silky Silver, Blue Blaze, Midnight Black and Glistening Grey.
The four variants of the Eeco are CNG 5-STR WITH A/C+HTR, CNG WITH HTR 5-STR, AMBULANCE PETROL WITH AC+HTR and Flexi Green. All the four variants are strapped with a new, powerful and highly fuel efficient 1196 cc engine. The engine can deliver 73 bhp of power @6000rpm and a torque of 101Nm@3000rpm. Moreover, the 1.2-litre engine is mated to rear drive 5-speed manual gearbox with Diagonal Shift Assistance (DSA) technology for smoother gear changing. The engine also incorporates a range of advanced technologies. Its power is complimented by the new Engine Management System that supports in enhancing fuel efficiency and performance. The Eeco give an average fuel efficiency of 15.1 km/l while meeting BS-IV emission norms. The Eeco is End of Life for Vehicles (ELV) compliant which means it uses Lead, Cadmium, Mercury and Chromium within permissible limits. The ELV regulations are yet to be adapted by the Indian automobile industry. In addition, the BS IV compliant, environment friendly engine makes the Eeco truly India’s first Green Car among C segment cars.
Having been specially designed for India, the Eeco has a superior suspension which allows for a smooth and comfortable ride on rough Indian roads. Equipped with fully-tuned McPherson-strut suspension on the front and 3-link rigid suspension on the rear, the Eeco offers best in class driving comfort. The system eases diagonal motion and allows for a gear change without any break in continuity of the action, thereby improving the gear shift feeling. Moreover, it stands on tubeless radial tyres that give superior comfort and powerful drive with a good grip on the road. The exterior body of the Eeco continues the long standing Maruti Suzuki tradition of combining functional design with spacious volume. Trendy and contemporary body graphics adorn the sides of the MPV giving it an appealing look. The dual tone interiors in shades of beige and grey provide a rich and spacious feeling.
